The Crewe Spooktacular

Families are being invited to explore Crewe this October half term as The Crewe Spooktacular returns with a bigger Halloween adventure, bringing together businesses across the town centre, Grand Junction Retail Park and Nantwich Road.

Organised by Crewe Business Improvement District (BID), the free event will run from Saturday, October 24th to Saturday, October 31st, with three Halloween trails, trick or treating, prizes and a special creative workshop to kick off the celebrations.

Following the success of last year’s character hunt on Nantwich Road, The Crewe Spooktacular has expanded to bring together 25 businesses across three of the town’s main shopping areas, giving families even more places to explore during the school holidays. Crewe BID is a business-led partnership representing businesses across Crewe town centre, Nantwich Road and Grand Junction Retail Park. It works to promote the town, support local businesses and deliver improvements and events that encourage more people to visit and explore Crewe.

Each trail will challenge children and their families to hunt for hidden spooky letters displayed in participating businesses. Once collected, the letters can be unscrambled to reveal a Halloween-themed word, with a completed trail offering the chance to win a £25 Crewe shopping voucher. Those who successfully complete all three trails will also be entered into a prize draw to win £75 worth of Crewe shopping vouchers.

Along the way, families can scan QR codes to uncover Halloween jokes and visit participating businesses for some trick or treating, making the trails the perfect opportunity for a spot of family fun whilst discovering shops and businesses across Crewe.

Rose Horner, Crewe BID Manager, said: “We had such a lovely response to The Crewe Spooktacular last year, and we wanted to make this year’s event even bigger by bringing businesses from across Crewe together. “One of the things we’re really keen to do through Crewe BID is encourage people to explore different parts of the town and discover businesses they might not have visited before. Halloween gives us a great opportunity to do that in a fun way, particularly during half term when families are looking for things to do. “It’s completely free to take part, there’s the chance to win some fantastic prizes and we hope it encourages families to visit different parts of Crewe, support local businesses and enjoy everything the town has to offer.”

The Halloween celebrations will begin on Saturday, October 24th with a free Spooktacular craft session hosted by Creative Crewe at Crewe Market Hall. Children will be able to make their own trick or treat bags before setting off to explore the trails.

Businesses taking part at Grand Junction Retail Park include Hobbycraft, Mountain Warehouse, Currys, Halfords, The Food Warehouse (Iceland), Matalan, The Works, TK Maxx, Nando’s and Easy Bathrooms. In Crewe town centre, families can hunt for letters at Vernon’s Fish Bar, Lizards Lair, Clarks, Max Spielmann, Specsavers, Hays Travel, ODEON, Flame & Ice and Crewe Market Hall. The Nantwich Road trail includes United Carpets and Beds, Apparel, Repair World, Stephenson Browne, Butters John Bee and Step Legal.

Eddie Davies, owner of United Carpets and Beds, said: “We loved being part of the character trail last Halloween, and our customers really enjoyed getting involved and taking photographs with the Kung Fu Panda statue. “It’s fantastic to see the event growing this year and bringing Nantwich Road together with businesses in the town centre and at Grand Junction Retail Park. We’re really looking forward to welcoming families back and being part of the celebrations.”

Completed words can be entered on the Discover Crewe website, with winners selected at random and contacted following the event.
