With schools about to break for half-term, and the clock change fast approaching, Metrocentre has lined up a whole host of activities to help brighten the shorter days and darker nights.
The fun starts from Friday 23 October with a Nintendo Switch 2 Activation in Exhibition Square. Lifelong gamers and newcomers alike can test out everything from pedal-to-the-metal racing in Mario Kart World and action-packed adventures like Donkey Kong Bananza, Splatoon Raiders and Star Fox to the more relaxing worlds of Pokémon Pokopia and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Budding MUAs and beauty enthusiasts, meanwhile, should make a beeline for the H beauty Carnival 5.0 in Town Square over Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October. There’s the chance to learn pro tips from some of the biggest beauty brands, enjoy a dry style or flash facial, or get creative with a charm-making session. There will also be money off selected products, along with the invitation to Build Your Own Goodie Bag of five deluxe samples with purchases of £70 or more. Carnival passes can be booked in advance or on the day, subject to availability.
Also arriving on Saturday 24 October is the high-energy Gandey’s K-Pop Dragon Circus, bringing its famous big top to Gateshead for an action-packed showcase of artistry, acrobatics, comedy and music. Tickets start from £9.99 per person, depending on seating tier, with family tickets available and Under 2s enjoying free admission. Book in advance using the code METRO20 and save 20% off grandstand, ringside and premium ringside seating. (T&Cs apply.)
As the October half-term holidays get underway officially on Monday 26 October, a visit to Exhibition Square is a must for enthusiasts of all things wizardry and magic. On show throughout the week will be a range of replica movie props from the world of the famous schoolboy wizard, the perfect backdrop for fans and families to take a photo or two. The sorcery theme will be added to over Halloween weekend itself on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October with Wand-Making Craft Sessions for young wizards and witches, costumed characters roaming the centre, and exclusive retailer discounts.
Metrocentre Marketing Manager Helen Atkinson said: “As the days shorten and the nights draw in, Metrocentre offers lots of reasons to get out of the house this Autumn and avoid cabin fever over the half-term holidays. From gaming, beauty and circus fun to our free wizardry world event, there’s something for all the family, big and small.”
