A PICTURESQUE County Durham hotel has created the perfect retreat, after a six figure sum transformation of former staff accommodation.
Bowburn Hall Hotel – sister hotel to Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa and Hardwick Hall Hotel near Sedgefield – has now added its cottage suites as options for guests. And it is already proving hugely popular with brides-to-be who are getting married at the hotel, as a pre-wedding night treat which can be shared with family or friends.
The full cottage can sleep eight with three bedrooms and a large fold down bed in the living room, along with a stylish dressing room with make-up and hair stations. An outdoor spa-style hot tub and a sauna have been installed in the cottage’s courtyard garden, which is all fenced off so offers complete privacy.
Although being primarily used by brides, the cottage is also available to anyone wanting to book a get-away-from-it all break, a gathering with family and friends or even as a corporate retreat. It can also be split in two, available as a one bedroom studio and as a two bedroom suite.
The new cottage sits alongside Bowburn’s other accommodation, which includes 20 bedrooms in the main house and five woodland lodges which can house up to two adults and two children. The lodges have a six foot bed, whirlpool bath, sitting area and a private deck.
Tom Pallister, General Manager at Bowburn Hall Hotel, said the cottage was a welcome addition. “Despite only being open for a short time it’s had a fantastic reception,” he said. “For brides who want to spend the night before their wedding with their bridesmaids or friends it’s the perfect place. “They can have food in the cottage if they don’t want to eat in the hotel or we can arrange special packages for them like pizza and Prosecco. “It means they are right on site for their special day and can start it feeling relaxed with their best friends.”
Bowburn Hall Hotel is available for exclusive hire for weddings, with a ballroom that can accommodate up to 160 for a wedding breakfast and 250 for an evening celebration.
