Astronomical enthusiasts can look forward to unique stargazing experiences as AstroVentures hosts two special events on October 13th and December 14th at Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort. Ticket holders will enjoy a two-course meal, interactive workshops, and telescope-guided views of celestial wonders, with the chance to witness the Geminids meteor shower or explore meteorites and moon rock in case of inclement weather

Ticket holders will be welcomed at the impressive resort and enjoy a delicious two-course meal in one of the hotel’s private function suites before gazing in wonder at the Milky Way and the universe beyond.

Led by the experts at AstroVentures, there’ll be an interactive workshop with handouts and software used to explore and explain the universe whilst giving guests valuable tips and pointers on how to get the best out of a night’s observing.

After the refreshments, it’ll be time to wrap up warm, grab a hot serve and venture out into the dark sky, using telescopes to view double stars, clusters, galaxies and nebulae. If the sky is clear or partly clear, guests may likely see a prolific meteor shower (The Geminids) made up of 120 shooting stars. In the event of inclement weather, there’ll be a super collection of meteorites, including a piece of moon rock, to show as they teach audiences the origins of the solar system.

AstroVentures are a team of professional astronomers based in Northumberland who formed a social enterprise to deliver stargazing experiences for the general public all over the UK and for children in schools as part of a STEM and Mentoring programme. Their primary mission is to get as many people to stargaze with them as possible.

Set within over 1,000 acres of woodland, Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf lies south of Hexham, perched on the cusp of the North Pennines Area of outstanding natural beauty.

The first event of its kind at Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort since the pandemic, these special evenings are both set to sell out. Tickets are £42 for adults and £27 for children and can be purchased via the Slaley Hall website, www.slaleyhallhotel.com/explore/whats-on/.
