What’s screening at Pictureville Presents: Cinema at The Studio this March 

While the doors to the National Science and Media Museum’s Pictureville Cinema are temporarily closed, the cinema has launched an exciting off-site offer, Pictureville Presents, over the road at The Studio next to the Alhambra.

Pictureville Presents brings cinema lovers classic and cult cinema, and family favourites, alongside special screenings with added extras like film introductions and a chance to see films that have rarely been shown on the big screen before.

Throughout March and into the Easter holidays, there’s an incredible slate of films from Romeo + Juliet and Bend It Like Beckham to Peter Rabbit, plus a special gaming takeover and spring crafts for the kids.

Celebrate Women’s History Month 

Throughout March

Celebrate Women’s History Month with a season of films that have been written, directed by, and star women. Screening throughout March are modern classics like Lady Bird and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, plus recent releases like How to Have SexPast Lives and Your Fat Friend.

Game on with Yorkshire Games Festival 

Saturday 9 March 

The Yorkshire Games Festival is returning to venues across Bradford from 7-10 March with a special takeover at The Studio on 9 March. The takeover features a special Kids’ Club screening of Sonic the Hedgehog, followed by The Super Mario Bros Movie in the afternoon.

In the evening, an exclusive adult-only gaming social will take over The Studio, where festivalgoers can play a range of tabletop games and explore all things analogue gaming with the team from Dungeon & Flagons. Plus, experience gaming on the big screen with some fan favourite multiplayer games like CrawlHeave HoDrink More Glurp, and more.

Mark two years of Bradford Queer Film Festival 

Saturday 16 March 

Celebrate two years of Bradford Queer Film Festival with a special screening of the 2002 British classic, Bend It Like Beckham.

The film will include an exclusive intro from Alice Parsons, director of Bradford Queer Film Festival.

Shakespeare on Screen 

21-28 March 

It’s Shakespeare Week from 21 March, and to pay homage to the theatrical backdrop of the Alhambra, Pictureville Presents will be screening a season of some of the best adaptations of the world’s most renowned playwright’s work.

Alongside beloved classics like Romeo + JulietShakespeare in Love; and 10 Things I Hate About You; the Shakespearean season will also feature the return of the awe-inspiring screenings of National Theatre Live, including the brand-new production The Motive and the Cue. 

Easter Kids’ Club 

29-30 March

Every Saturday morning, you can see beloved family favourites as part of Kids’ Club, all for the reduced price of £3. Over the Easter holidays, Kids’ Club will include four additional screenings on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 March.

Families can come along and get crafty with special spring activities before screenings of Peter RabbitAlice in Wonderland and Zootropolis, all for just £3.
