The North’s best Japanese restaurant launches stunning spring menu with a 40% discount

From Izakaya to Kaiseki, MUSU’s new seasonal menu takes you on a journey through the Japanese Springtime.

MUSU, the award-winning Japanese restaurant located in the heart of Manchester’s Deansgate, is ringing in the Springtime with an amazing new menu.

Continuing its focus on four of the most revered cooking styles in Japan, Edomae, Izakaya, Teppan and Kaiseki, MUSU’s Chef Patron Michael Shaw has added a selection of refreshing, seasonal dishes into its Land Of The Rising Sun tasting menu.

Opening with a trip to Edo-era Tokyo, guests are treated to a choice of high-end Sashimi and Nigiri, with standout tastes coming from the freshly sourced O-toro and Scallops. A Carabinero Prawn Tartare rounds out the section served with Caviar and dashi butter.

Izakaya features a mixture of Japanese street-food staples, with a Shiitake Tempura accompanied by Yakitori Chicken thigh with Tokyo Onion and Duck served alongside pickled plum Umeboshi and Kinome leaf.

MUSU’s Teppan fires up for the third Teppan section, which is headlined by perfectly-cooked Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef, burnt Onion and Kale, as well as a Miso-glazed Cod cheek with spring herbs.

To round out the new menu in style, the Kaiseki section features a mixture of savoury and sweet treats. Chawanmushi, a traditional Japanese steamed Custard, a Duck Gyoza with Foie Gras and Aged Beef Fillet dressed with whipped Miso Hollandaise and Asparagus cover your savoury taste buds while Yuzu Sake with Pineapple & Mango and a White Chocolate and Soya Milk crisp finishes the menu off.

The new menu is designed by Chef Patron Mike Shaw, a veteran of Michelin-starred kitchens and a former student of Raymond Blanc, with each dish crafted by his expert team of chefs.

Available in 5, 8 or 12-course sittings, the new menu can also be paired with a refreshed wine list, chosen by MUSU’s in-house Sommelier, Ivan Milchev.

To celebrate the launch, MUSU is also offering a limited-time, 40 per cent discount across all of its menus at any time during their opening hours.

Michael Shaw, Chef Patron for MUSU said: “Menu refreshes are honestly one of the most exciting times as a chef patron. They’re the moments that you showcase your passion, your individuality and your creativity, and there’s no better feeling than bringing your ideas to life with a new launch like this.

“We’ve channelled the seasonal produce that is the highlight of Japanese Springtime across the menu. Spring brings bright new flavours, and with courses like the Miso-glazed Cod cheek, we’re highlighting one of the most exciting culinary seasons for the country.

“I can’t wait to share the new flavours with our legion of fans as we welcome in the warmer weather.”

This includes its ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ tasting menu, as well as the bespoke Omakase Experience, and the refreshed Sushi menu.

The iconic haunt, which has become a hotspot for celebrities and food critics alike, has also announced an ultra-exclusive event with Japanese drink specialists House Of Suntory to create Through The Seasons by MUSU, a one-of-a-kind journey through Japanese food & flavour, taking place on Thursday 25th April.

Held in the venue’s private dining room, the night will see diners transported through a stunning 8-course tasting menu complimented with beverage pairings representing the four seasons by Chef Patron Michael Shaw, with immersive sounds, smells, visuals and tactical elements.
