If you’ve ever sat through a dinner where absolutely everything that could go wrong did, you’ll feel right at home at Faulty Towers The Dining Experience. The award-winning immersive dining phenomenon is heading to York this August from for a strictly limited run, and for fans of chaotic hospitality, bad customer service, and brilliant comedy, it promises to be the most entertaining evening out in Yorkshire this summer.
The show arrives at the York Pavilion Hotel on Tuesday 11th August and runs until Sunday 16th August 2026, with evening performances throughout the week and matinée shows on Saturday and Sunday. Performing exclusively at the Fulford hotel, it’s a rare chance to catch one of the most beloved live dining experiences in the world without having to travel to London.
For those yet to experience it, Faulty Towers The Dining Experience is exactly what it sounds like. Guests sit down for a three-course dinner while actors playing the show’s notoriously catastrophe-prone hotel staff improvise their way through two hours of chaos around the dining room. Basil blusters, Sybil glares, Manuel misunderstands everything, and the audience is very much part of the mayhem. No two performances are ever the same, which is exactly why so many people come back for more.
The York cast includes David Tremaine, who plays Basil, Rebecca Norris playing Sybil and Andrew Gruen as Manuel.
Producer Jared Harford said: “York is one of those cities with a great appetite for live entertainment, so we can’t wait to bring the chaos of Faulty Towers here. If you’ve never seen Faulty Towers The Dining Experience, this is your chance — and if you have, you’ll know that no two shows are ever the same.”
The show has been running since 2008 and has appeared in 43 countries, welcoming over a million guests along the way. Devised by Alison Pollard-Mansergh, Andrew Foreman and others, it’s a loving tribute to the BBC’s legendary sitcom and is around 70 percent improvised — meaning the cast genuinely respond to the audience in the room each night, keeping even repeat visitors thoroughly entertained.
It’s the kind of night out that’s hard to categorise and very easy to love: part comedy show, part dinner theatre, part participatory chaos. Whether you’re planning a date night, a birthday treat, or a night out with friends, it tends to be the evening everyone talks about for weeks afterwards.
Faulty Towers The Dining Experience runs at York Pavilion Hotel, 45 Main Street, Fulford, York, YO10 4PJ from Tuesday 11th August to Sunday 16th August 2026.
