Northumberland hospitality group The Doxford Group has announced the return of The Tipi at The Tempus, reopening to the public on Friday 27th March for its spring and summer season.
Set within the grounds of The Tempus — recently named Best Small Hotel at the North East England Tourism Awards — The Tipi has become a popular destination for relaxed, open-air evenings, combining wood-fired food, live music and space to unwind across the warmer months.
Running through to the end of September, the Tipi will host a programme of themed events, from food and drink specials to family-focused moments, designed to appeal to those visiting with friends, family or as part of a wider stay at the hotel.
Since last season, the estate has introduced an outdoor play park, which has quickly become a key part of the experience. Positioned beside the tipi, it allows children space to play while adults settle in — creating a genuinely relaxed environment for all.
With indoor and outdoor seating, firepits and views across open countryside, the Tipi is designed for unhurried evenings as the days grow longer.
Opening hours:
Fridays and Saturday: 4pm – 10pm
Food served: 4.30pm – 7.30pm
Live music: 17.30pm – 8.30pm
Evenings will be accompanied by live acoustic performances from local artists.
The food offering centres around wood-fired pizzas and relaxed sharing dishes, paired with seasonal drinks and local beers. A spritz-led cocktail list sits alongside this — including Aperol, Hugo, Pimms and Passionfruit — alongside classic serves such as Negroni, Espresso Martini, Margarita and Spicy Margarita, with lighter options including a Strawberry Cooler and an Elderflower & Apple Nojito.
Elain Meenaghan, Director of Sales at The Doxford Group, said: “The Tipi has always been about bringing people together to enjoy the outdoor space on the estate, and this year we’re building on that with a programme that gives guests many reasons to return. From themed weekends — starting with an Easter egg trail over the school holidays — to live music and monthly specials, there will always be something new to experience throughout the season.
“With the addition of the play park, the Tipi has become a space where families can properly relax while children have the freedom to play. The vibe is informal, welcoming and designed to make the most of the outdoors. Spring and summer in Northumberland really is something special, and this gives people a place to enjoy it.”
The Tipi at The Tempus will run from 27th March through to the end of September, operating with live music every Friday and Saturday evening. Across the week, The Tempus continues its offering with a new spring menu, launched on 19th March, alongside its popular Sunday roasts served in The Orangery.
Alongside public opening, the Tipi will also be available for private hire, offering a flexible indoor-outdoor setting for celebrations, gatherings and corporate summer events. For more information visit www.thetempus.co.uk/tipi or call 01665 579173.
