Two popular North Eastvenues are giving couples something to celebrate this month (February), with special Valentine’s menus.
On Wednesday 14 February,The Northumberland Arms, at Felton and The Blackbird, Ponteland are each tempting couples with a three-course menu with a focus on sharing.
The Northumberland Arms –which has six individually decorated bedrooms for those choosing to extend their evening – is serving a set menu, starting with a sharing board of king prawns pilpil, mini camembert, toasted focaccia, olives and dips.
This is followed by two sirloin steaks with triple cooked chips, grilled tomato and mushroom and a Caesar salad with a small surcharge for peppercorn, blue cheese or garlic butter sauce.
Then dinner will be rounded off with a dark chocolate fondant to share, served with Amarena cherries and clotted cream ice cream.
Meanwhile, The Blackbird’s Valentine’s menu will offer diners a choice of starters including ham hock terrine withcrispy egg, endive lettuce, pickled carrot and shallot dressing and smoked salmon roulade, with cucumber and dill salad.
And for those wishing to share, a starter of burrata, grilled peaches, chicory salad, pine Nuts and honey is also on offer.
Main courses options are duck breast with fondant potatoes, celeriac purée, tenderstem broccoli and cherry jus, slow braised pork belly with homemade black pudding, roast apple purée, carrot and calvados and roast butternut squash with cavolo nero, hazelnut and toasted seed crumb and sage jus.
Dinner will then draw to a close with desserts such as salted caramel tart, with sticky toffee crumb, créme Anglaise and milk ice cream and white chocolate cremeux with red berries, raspberry gel and poppyseed meringue.
An assiette of sorbets and desserts designed for sharing is also available.
Each dish on The Blackbird’s Valentine’s menu is individually priced while the set menu at Northumberland Arms is priced at £69 for two people with a £10 deposit to be paid at the time of booking.
