The voices behind some of George Michael’s most iconic hits are coming to The Lowry, Salford, on Saturday 5th April 2025 for an extraordinary evening celebrating the music of the late superstar.
“The George Michael Singers 2025 Live” features the powerhouse vocal trio of Shirley Lewis, Jo Garland, and Jay Henry, who collectively spent over three decades performing and recording with the beloved singer-songwriter. They’ll be joined by members of George’s original band and his musical director Steve Sidwell for what promises to be a moving tribute to his musical legacy.
The show will feature masterful renditions of classics spanning George’s entire career, from the Wham! era through to his later Symphonica period. Audiences can expect to hear timeless favourites including ‘Careless Whisper’, ‘Father Figure’, ‘Fast Love’, and ‘Freedom’, performed by the very voices that helped create these memorable recordings.
What sets this production apart is the personal touch – between songs, the singers will share previously untold stories about their time working with George. Shirley Lewis, whose distinctive vocals feature on hits like ‘Father Figure’, brings decades of experience working with George to the stage, while Jo Garland, who was signed to George’s own Aegean record label, contributed to several of his albums including ‘Older’ and ‘Patience’. Jay Henry, known to television audiences as a vocal coach on The Voice UK, rounds out the trio, having performed alongside George at venues worldwide, including the London 2012 Olympic Games.
“We’re excited to be able to perform George’s beautiful songs again,” shares Lewis. “Although our hearts will forever miss him, working together again definitely keeps George with us.”
The performance at The Lowry forms part of a nationwide tour following a sold-out show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. For Manchester area fans, it represents a rare opportunity to experience George Michael’s catalogue performed by those who knew both the music – and the man – intimately.
Tickets for this special evening at The Lowry are available now.
