The Floral Pavilion in New Brighton is celebrating double recognition in the 2026 Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards, with the popular Wirral entertainment venue shortlisted for Entertainment Venue of the Year and long-serving colleague Sandy Davies nominated for the Unsung Hero Award.
The awards celebrate the businesses, attractions, experiences and individuals helping to make the Liverpool City Region a leading destination for visitors, recognising the contribution they make to tourism, culture and entertainment across the area.
The Floral Pavilion has been shortlisted alongside some of the region’s best-known cultural venues, including Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool Empire Theatre and Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse. Based in the heart of New Brighton, the theatre welcomes audiences throughout the year with a varied programme of live entertainment, including comedy, music, touring theatre productions, family shows and its hugely popular annual Christmas pantomime.
Pauline Campbell, Venue Manager at the Floral Pavilion, said the nomination was an opportunity to celebrate the venue’s contribution to the region and fly the flag for Wirral. She said: “Culture and entertainment are this region’s biggest gifts to the world so to be shortlisted for our impact in this category – and to fly the flag for Wirral – is tremendous recognition. There’s nothing quite like the experience of high-quality live entertainment and our stage hosts everything from comedians and musicians to big West End productions and of course, a brilliant traditional pantomime. We have some exceptional shows lined up and I really hope people will come and see what’s on offer.”
Alongside the venue’s nomination, Sandy Davies has been shortlisted for the Unsung Hero Award in recognition of an extraordinary 50 years of service to the Floral Pavilion. Her nomination celebrates the dedication of the people working behind the scenes to make the venue a welcoming destination for audiences, alongside its team of volunteer ambassadors who give their time to support visitors.
Pauline added: “People make places and we have passionate people who have worked tirelessly to make the Floral Pavilion a standout entertainment venue. They’re complemented by a fabulous team of volunteer ambassadors who believe in what we do and support our visitors in their own time. We’re particularly thrilled for our colleague Sandy Davies who is shortlisted for the Unsung Hero Award. Sandy has given 50 years of service to the Floral and this is very deserving acclaim.”
Sandy Davies said, “I’m delighted to be chosen as a finalist in the Unsung Hero Award, the Floral Pavilion Theatre has been part of my life for 50 years, it was an honour to be nominated.” The double nomination highlights the role the Floral Pavilion plays in the Liverpool City Region’s cultural offering, bringing a wide range of performances and experiences to New Brighton while recognising the people whose commitment helps make them possible.
The winners of the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards 2026 will be announced at a ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral on Thursday 4 February 2027.
