New Look, a much-loved store at Metrocentre for 20 years, is relocating within the complex, unveiling what will be the brand’s largest concept store in the UK, featuring its new experience-driven retail format.

The move will see New Look remain in the premium fashion hub of Upper Red Mall, relocating to a 11,000 sq ft ‘omni-hub’. There, customers are promised a truly integrated digital and physical shopping journey through ‘click & collect’, self-service e-commerce drop-offs, order-in-store showroom elevations, and digital browsing displays. All of which has been carefully designed to create a seamless shopping experience that is supportive of an even wider range of customer needs.

The relocation and new fit-out represent a significant investment by New Look, demonstrating the brand’s continued confidence in the North East destination following years of success, and underlining Metrocentre’s long-standing commitment to supporting existing retailers and driving growth across its well-established fashion offer.

It also further strengthens the destination’s best-in-class fashion offer in Red Mall, joining existing powerhouse brands Zara, Urban Outfitters, and Stradivarius, as well as Hollister and Bershka, which are set to arrive later this year.

Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, Asset Managers of Metrocentre, commented: “It’s great to have another leading UK retailer investing in Metrocentre. While securing new brands is a key focus for us, we are equally committed to supporting our existing retailers, providing a platform for long-term success.

“Effective asset management means keeping our retail environment fresh and relevant, while also generating opportunities for tenants to perform in elevated store formats and better locations. This significant investment shows off New Look’s confidence in Metrocentre, and the new store will be a fantastic home for them.”

The announcement of New Look’s relocation and investment follows the news that Bershka is set to take a 16,000 sq ft unit in Red Mall, joining sister brands Stradivarius and Zara – a move which will see Metrocentre become the only destination in the region to offer all three top brands.
