One of Merseyside’s most iconic nightclub figures is preparing to revisit the glory days of local nightlife with a special book launch event in New Brighton this month.
On Wednesday 24th June, Paul Chase will celebrate the release of his memoir, Chelsea Nights: A Memoir of Mayhem, Music and Moments, at Tallulah’s Emporium. The evening will feature a live interview, audience Q&A, book signing and music from legendary DJ Pez Tellett, offering a nostalgic journey back to the heyday of The Chelsea Reach.
Hosted by Justin Hopper of La Vida Liverpool, the free event promises to bring together former club-goers, music lovers and anyone interested in Merseyside’s rich nightlife heritage. Doors open at 7pm, with guests invited to hear Paul share stories from his years managing one of the region’s most celebrated venues.
Situated on New Brighton’s waterfront, The Chelsea Reach became a legendary destination during its three-decade run, helping shape the North West’s disco and club culture from the 1970s through to its closure in 2001. The venue attracted thousands of revellers and earned a reputation as one of the area’s defining nightlife institutions.
In Chelsea Nights, Chase reflects on the people, music and memorable moments that made the club so special. The book explores the evolution of nightlife over the decades, celebrating the friendships, romances and unforgettable experiences forged on packed dancefloors, while also offering an honest look at the realities of running a major nightclub.
Music plays a central role throughout the memoir, with tributes to influential DJs who helped define the club’s sound and atmosphere. Readers are taken behind the scenes of an era when nightlife was driven by community, personality and a shared love of music.
The launch event will provide attendees with the chance to meet the author, hear exclusive stories from the book and purchase signed copies. With music from Pez Tellett helping recreate the spirit of the era, the evening is expected to be a fitting celebration of one of Merseyside’s most cherished nightlife landmarks.
