The 34-year-old from Prenton will begin his extraordinary feat at 1pm on Saturday, November 14, powering through until the same time on Sunday, November 15.

And every penny raised will go to The Honeysuckle Bereavement Team, providing compassionate care at Liverpool Women’s Hospital for anyone experiencing pregnancy loss, still birth or neonatal death, supporting them at the time of their loss and afterwards. Craig’s son Oscar was stillborn in April 2023.

He says: “Me and my wife Ashley were told that the baby was poorly at 30 weeks and Oscar was then delivered at 33 weeks. “Those three weeks were the worst three weeks of our lives and, when he was stillborn, it feels like your world’s ended. “But that was where The Honeysuckle Bereavement Team came in, making sure we spent time with Oscar in the hospital and supporting us ever since.”

Money raised will help the Honeysuckle Team provide additional support, comfort and opportunities for families following the loss of a baby. This includes peer support sessions, the annual remembrance service, enhancing bereavement rooms to create more homely and comfortable spaces, and supporting the training and expenses of bereavement volunteers. Funds will also contribute towards Honeysuckle FC, which Craig attends each week, giving bereaved dads a safe and supportive space to come together, talk and play football. Looking to the future, there’s also an ambition to develop Honeysuckle House, providing bereaved families with a dedicated space away from the main hospital environment.

Craig, who’s gone on to have rainbow baby Louie, now two, adds: “I’m doing this so that other parents who sadly go on the journey we did can have the same amazing support that we did, and so that more people know about the unbelievable help that’s provided. “We wouldn’t have coped without it.”

Craig, who raised more than £12,000 for The Honeysuckle Bereavement Service with a Three Peaks Challenge in 2024, is hoping to raise as much as possible with the 24-Hour Padel Challenge, inviting other players to compete against him. Ignite Padel, which has donated the court, has also opened a second one between midnight and 8am so anyone else wanting to play and donate to the cause can do so.

“We’ve known Craig since our school days, so when he approached us about this 24-hour padel challenge, we jumped at the chance to support such an incredible cause. The whole team will be getting stuck in over the weekend to back our good friend every step of the way.”

“I just want as many people as possible to support such an incredible cause,” says Craig. “The closer it gets to the challenge, the harder I realise it’s going to be. “But it’s just 24 hours of physical effort. Suffering the loss of a baby is an emotional challenge that lasts forever. I’m doing this in memory of Oscar and that’s what will get me through.”

A Wirral entrepreneur is taking on the big delivery apps with an exciting new platform that promises better deals for local businesses, lower fees for customers and some fantastic offers across the peninsula!

Karan Patel has launched The Wirral Bites, an innovative new food, drink and retail delivery platform designed to support Wirral businesses while giving local people more choice, better value and a great reason to shop local. With more than 50 businesses already signed up, The Wirral Bites is gathering momentum as an exciting alternative to the big-name delivery apps. And to celebrate its launch, new customers can enjoy £5 OFF when they spend £20, simply by using the discount code TRYTWB.

With a dedicated website and an easy-to-use app, The Wirral Bites makes it simple to discover local businesses, browse their products and offers, and place orders from the comfort of home.

A Better Deal For Wirral Businesses One of the biggest selling points of The Wirral Bites is that it has been created with local businesses firmly in mind. While the major delivery platforms can charge substantial commissions and fees, The Wirral Bites offers a much more attractive alternative. For businesses, it’s completely FREE to join, with no sign-up fee, a free payment terminal and fees and commissions that are 50% lower than those charged by the big popular apps. That means local businesses get to keep more of the money they earn from every order. And there’s another major advantage — businesses retain ownership of their own customer data, giving them greater control over their customer relationships and the opportunity to build loyalty. For independent restaurants, takeaways, cafés, shops and other local retailers, this could make a real difference. Rather than seeing so much of their hard-earned revenue swallowed up by delivery platform charges, they can put more money back into their businesses — and pass some of those savings on to customers.

Better Value And Fantastic Offers For Customers! The benefits don’t stop with businesses. For customers across Wirral, The Wirral Bites offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy their favourite local food, drink and retail products while getting more for their money. With lower fees than the major delivery platforms, customers can enjoy better value while knowing that more of their spending is going directly to the businesses they love. And because businesses are paying less commission, they have more flexibility to offer competitive prices, exclusive promotions and special deals. There are already some incredible offers available through The Wirral Bites, with more than 50 businesses on board and plenty of choice for customers looking to discover something new. Best of all, it’s completely FREE for customers to sign up!

Supporting Local Businesses And Keeping More Money In Wirral At the heart of The Wirral Bites is a simple but powerful idea — local businesses deserve a better deal, and so do their customers. By reducing the fees and commissions that businesses pay, the platform aims to create a win-win situation for everyone. Businesses can retain more of their income, customers can benefit from better value, and more money can stay within the local economy. It’s an approach that could prove particularly appealing to independent Wirral businesses facing rising operating costs and the challenges of competing with larger national brands. For Karan Patel, The Wirral Bites represents an exciting opportunity to build a delivery platform that puts the Wirral community first. And with more than 50 businesses already signed up, it’s clear that the idea is attracting interest.

Get £5 OFF Your First Order — Sign Up Today! To encourage even more people to discover The Wirral Bites, there’s a fantastic introductory offer for new customers. Simply sign up, spend £20 and use the discount code TRYTWB to get £5 OFF! It’s a great opportunity to try the platform, discover some brilliant local businesses and save money at the same time. With an easy-to-use app, a growing choice of businesses, exciting offers and lower fees, The Wirral Bites is giving Wirral residents plenty of reasons to make the switch. So next time you’re thinking of ordering food, drink or shopping locally, why not give The Wirral Bites a try? You’ll be getting a great deal for yourself while helping local businesses keep more of what they earn. Karan Patel / The Wirral Bites

Formerly known as The Rodney, the pub is officially reverting to its traditional name, The Lord Rodney. The ambitious project marks a major milestone as Chorley-based Blind Tiger Inns’ 24th venue overall and their very first expansion into Warrington. It also represents the second leased site in partnership with Trust Inns, following the successful opening of The Castle in Clitheroe.

A Modernized Look with Original Charm The comprehensive £150,000 makeover of the pub, which faces the Warrington Wolves – Halliwell Jones Stadium, will overhaul both the interior and exterior spaces, creating a sleek, modernized atmosphere while carefully preserving the character and original heritage features built into the venue over the years. Complete Bar Overhaul: A brand-new focal bar area delivering a fresh look and feel. Enhanced Comfort: Full reupholstery of existing seating alongside additional furnishings throughout. Interactive Entertainment Hub: The installation of two state-of-the-art Smart Darts lanes, a contactless pool table, and multiple HD TV screens strategically placed to maximize live sport viewing. Upgraded Outdoor Area: A newly constructed garden pergola complete with festoon lighting and expanded seating, designed as the ultimate spot for outdoor drinks and people-watching. Custom Artwork: Bespoke interior and exterior murals created by renowned graffiti artist, Jano.

Creating Local Jobs The project will also boost the local economy through new job creation. Leading the venue into its exciting new chapter is an experienced local manager with deep roots in the area and an avid Warrington Wolves fan—perfectly timed for the return of the Super League season in February.

Chris Tulloch, the founder and Managing Director of Blind Tiger Inns said: “The Lord Rodney holds a rich history in Warrington and this major £150,000 transformation will not only breathe new life into the building but also deliver a top-tier pub experience for the local community. This is our first site in Warrington and we want to preserve all the popular items in the pub such as pool, darts and the dominoes teams, as well as upgrade the site and make it more welcoming and comfortable for the local community. We pride ourselves on delivering great products and community values in safe, comfortable and enjoyable surroundings. So regulars as well as newcomers can expect great value and year round promotions.”

Grand Launch Weekend & Halloween Celebrations The Lord Rodney will officially welcome guests back during an action-packed launch weekend kicking off on Friday, 30th October. Friday, 30th October (From 5:00 PM): Official reopening ceremony featuring live entertainment continuing throughout the weekend. Saturday, 31st October: Halloween Party Extravaganza featuring £2.50 drinks between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Sunday, 1st November: Live sports broadcasting all day, featuring big Sunday football clashes across the HD screens, followed by Soul & Motown music at 6:00 PM after the football.

Get ready for a nostalgic trip back to the swinging sixties as the incredible This Is Merseybeat returns to the iconic Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight Village! Taking place on Friday 16th April 2027, this spectacular live music show brings the magic of Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club to the Wirral for one unforgettable night!

Celebrating the golden age of Liverpool music, This Is Merseybeat is a vibrant, energetic and authentic tribute to the sound that changed the world. Featuring some of the finest musicians on the Merseybeat scene, the show takes audiences right back to the early 1960s, when Liverpool was the centre of the musical universe and bands like The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers and The Searchers were taking the world by storm. Direct from the world-famous Cavern Club, the production features resident Merseybeat band The Shakers alongside a host of talented guest performers, recreating the sights, sounds and excitement of an era that put Liverpool firmly on the musical map. And with rave reviews, sell-out performances and an incredible musical pedigree behind it, this promises to be a fantastic night of entertainment at one of Wirral’s most treasured theatres!

Imagine stepping back into Liverpool in 1963. The Cavern Club is buzzing, Beatlemania is taking hold and a whole new sound is sweeping across Britain. That’s exactly the atmosphere This Is Merseybeat brings to life! Taking audiences on a musical journey through the birth of the Mersey Sound and the British Invasion, the show celebrates the incredible artists who helped make Liverpool the music capital of the world.

This Is Merseybeat has been delighting audiences since 2018, earning glowing reviews for its authenticity, energy and brilliant performances. Expect an exhilarating mix of Merseybeat classics, Cavern Club favourites, rhythm and blues and good old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll, with music associated with legendary names including The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Searchers, Cilla Black, Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas and The Big Three. There are also classic numbers associated with rock ‘n’ roll greats such as Chuck Berry, Larry Williams and Little Richard, whose music helped inspire Liverpool’s early beat groups. What makes This Is Merseybeat particularly special is that every song featured in the production was performed by a Liverpool artist during the 1960s, making it a true celebration of the city’s extraordinary musical heritage. Whether you grew up with the Mersey Sound or simply love great live music, this is a show guaranteed to transport you back to one of the most exciting periods in popular music history!

At the heart of the production are The Shakers, one of Merseyside’s most respected and authentic beat groups. Resident performers at the legendary Cavern Club since 2006, The Shakers have spent two decades keeping the unmistakable sound of the sixties alive. For this special Gladstone Theatre performance, they’ll be joined by Neil Ainsby as Gerry Marsden and Victoria Jones as Cilla Black, bringing two of Liverpool’s most beloved musical icons back into the spotlight. Renowned Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse actor Paul Codman will also be appearing as the show’s charismatic host, guiding audiences through this fabulous celebration of Merseyside’s musical past.

Organiser Tony O’Keeffe, founder of The Shakers, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing the show back to the beautiful Port Sunlight, in the iconic Gladstone Theatre! These shows take audiences on an incredible journey through the exciting Merseybeat era and they are often sell-outs — with rave reviews that we’re really proud of. Our line-up is so talented and it’s as close to the Merseybeat era as you’re going to get!”

With a combination of exceptional musicianship, theatrical storytelling and timeless songs, This Is Merseybeat is far more than your average tribute show. It’s a love letter to Liverpool and the music that made the city famous across the globe. With the show’s outstanding reputation and previous sell-out performances, music fans won’t want to miss this special return to Port Sunlight! This Is Merseybeat / The Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight, Wirral / Friday 16th April 2027

The awards celebrate the businesses, attractions, experiences and individuals helping to make the Liverpool City Region a leading destination for visitors, recognising the contribution they make to tourism, culture and entertainment across the area.

The Floral Pavilion has been shortlisted alongside some of the region’s best-known cultural venues, including Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool Empire Theatre and Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse. Based in the heart of New Brighton, the theatre welcomes audiences throughout the year with a varied programme of live entertainment, including comedy, music, touring theatre productions, family shows and its hugely popular annual Christmas pantomime.

Pauline Campbell, Venue Manager at the Floral Pavilion, said the nomination was an opportunity to celebrate the venue’s contribution to the region and fly the flag for Wirral. She said: “Culture and entertainment are this region’s biggest gifts to the world so to be shortlisted for our impact in this category – and to fly the flag for Wirral – is tremendous recognition. There’s nothing quite like the experience of high-quality live entertainment and our stage hosts everything from comedians and musicians to big West End productions and of course, a brilliant traditional pantomime. We have some exceptional shows lined up and I really hope people will come and see what’s on offer.”

Alongside the venue’s nomination, Sandy Davies has been shortlisted for the Unsung Hero Award in recognition of an extraordinary 50 years of service to the Floral Pavilion. Her nomination celebrates the dedication of the people working behind the scenes to make the venue a welcoming destination for audiences, alongside its team of volunteer ambassadors who give their time to support visitors.

Pauline added: “People make places and we have passionate people who have worked tirelessly to make the Floral Pavilion a standout entertainment venue. They’re complemented by a fabulous team of volunteer ambassadors who believe in what we do and support our visitors in their own time. We’re particularly thrilled for our colleague Sandy Davies who is shortlisted for the Unsung Hero Award. Sandy has given 50 years of service to the Floral and this is very deserving acclaim.”

Sandy Davies said, “I’m delighted to be chosen as a finalist in the Unsung Hero Award, the Floral Pavilion Theatre has been part of my life for 50 years, it was an honour to be nominated.” The double nomination highlights the role the Floral Pavilion plays in the Liverpool City Region’s cultural offering, bringing a wide range of performances and experiences to New Brighton while recognising the people whose commitment helps make them possible.

With tickets now on sale, the multi-award winning company is delivering another magical family experience packed with laughter, music, colourful costumes and plenty of surprises! A perfect way to extend the festive season and beat those January blues, the production promises a laugh-a-minute extravaganza that will have both adults and children in stitches!

One of Wirral’s longest-running and most cherished theatrical traditions, The Chrysanths has been entertaining generations of families for more than a century. Now, fresh from another major award win and the success of January’s Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, the company is preparing to bring one of pantomime’s best-loved fairy tales to life on the New Brighton waterfront. BEST AMATEUR PANTO IN THE NORTH WEST!

The Chrysanths has plenty to celebrate after being crowned Best Amateur Panto in the North West 2025, adding another impressive accolade to its growing collection of awards. The company has also received recognition for Best Pantomime Direction, Best Dame, Best Villain and Best Choreography — highlighting the exceptional talent, creativity and dedication that go into its productions. Despite being an amateur society, The Chrysanths consistently delivers performances of a remarkably high standard, with spectacular costumes, imaginative sets, fantastic choreography and a talented cast bringing the magic of pantomime to life. Following its 2026 production, NODA (the National Operatic and Dramatic Association) summed up the company’s work perfectly: “This is pantomime at its very best; joyful, generous and brimming with heart.” FEE, FI, FO, FUM… JACK AND THE BEANSTALK IS COMING!

Following the huge success of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood earlier this year, The Chrysanths is returning to the Floral Pavilion with its 108th production — Jack and the Beanstalk! Running from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th January 2027, this much-loved fairy tale is the perfect recipe for a classic family pantomime. Audiences can look forward to a magical adventure inspired by the story of Jack, his extraordinary beanstalk and the fearsome giant who lives high above the clouds. Expect plenty of larger-than-life characters, hilarious comedy, catchy musical numbers, dazzling dancing and all the traditional pantomime fun that audiences know and love. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Chrysanths production without plenty of audience participation, cheeky jokes for the grown-ups and laugh-out-loud moments for the children! The company’s January productions have become a firm fixture in the local calendar, providing a wonderful way to beat the post-Christmas blues and enjoy a fantastic family outing at one of the region’s most iconic theatres. OVER 100 YEARS OF PANTOMIME MAGIC!

What makes The Chrysanths particularly special is its extraordinary history. Founded in 1918, the Chrysanthemums Pantomime Society is believed to be one of the oldest pantomime societies in the UK — and possibly even the world! Its remarkable story began towards the end of the First World War, when a group of amateur performers staged an out-of-season pantomime in the garden of a house on Vaughan Road in New Brighton. Over the decades, The Chrysanths has performed at numerous venues, including New Brighton Pier, The Tivoli and the Little Theatre in Birkenhead. The company has even been invited to perform at the famous Portmeirion village in North Wales. Today, its home is New Brighton’s magnificent Floral Pavilion, where generations of families return year after year to experience the magic. With Jack and the Beanstalk marking its 108th production, the society’s incredible legacy shows no signs of slowing down. LOCAL TALENT, PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS!

One of the greatest strengths of The Chrysanths is its commitment to local talent. From the actors and dancers to the musicians and production team, the company is bursting with talented people from across Wirral. It’s very much a production by local people, for local people — and that community spirit shines through in every performance. Many members have dedicated years to perfecting the unique traditions of pantomime, combining classic comedy and storytelling with fresh ideas and exciting new talent. As scriptwriter and co-producer Graham Leigh explains: “Pantomime is all we do. We don’t do musicals, we don’t do plays — pantomime is what we know.” That dedication has certainly paid off, with the society establishing itself as one of the region’s most respected amateur theatre companies. BOOK YOUR TICKETS FOR JANUARY 2027!

With another prestigious award under its belt and a fantastic new production on the horizon, there’s never been a better time to experience The Chrysanths! Jack and the Beanstalk promises all the ingredients of a brilliant family pantomime — magical storytelling, hilarious characters, stunning performances and plenty of audience participation. Whether you’re a lifelong pantomime fan, looking for a fantastic family day out or searching for a memorable Christmas gift, this is one show you’ll want to put in your diary. With five performances across four days, there are plenty of opportunities to catch the magic — but booking early is recommended! Follow The Chrysanths Panto on FACEBOOK

A grandfather from Rode Heath has shared the moment he realised he needed to quit smoking for good, as part of a powerful campaign from public health leaders across Cheshire and Merseyside. Launched on the 19 October 2026, the latest instalment of the Stop For Good campaign calls on smokers to try to kick the habit, regardless of how many times they may have tried already. Centred on a father and daughter enjoying a day of fishing, the new advert highlights the little girl’s grandfather’s repeated attempts to quit smoking, with his empty seat suggesting to viewers that he has died. However, in an upbeat twist, the grandfather appears fit and healthy, beaming with pride at his granddaughter.

And, backing the campaign is grandfather-of-two Martin Austin, who gave up smoking when his wife fell ill. Martin, 72, said: “I started smoking at quite a young age – probably around 12 years old – purely because my friends were doing it and then it became a habit. “It was only when my wife became ill that I realised I could end up being my children’s only living parent and that they needed me to be here. Sadly, she did pass away and that was a real catalyst for me to stop for good. “To anyone thinking of quitting – look at the people around you, the ones who you love and who love you. Quit for them and help ensure you’re here for the moments that matter the most.”

The campaign comes as independent research commissioned by NHS Cheshire and Merseyside reveals how more than a third of smokers (39%) have tried to give up at least twice before, with more than a quarter (26%) saying their main reason for wanting to quit is their loved ones. Across Cheshire and Merseyside, up to two in three smokers’ lives are cut short by the habit, claiming 74,600 lives each year across the country.

Dr Sarah McNulty, Director of Public Health for Knowsley and Lead Director of Public Health for Cheshire and Merseyside’s All Together Smokefree programme, said: “Our Stop For Good campaign isn’t about placing blame or inducing guilt; rather, it is designed to make smokers think about trying to quit, even if they have tried once, twice, even 10 times previously. “Quitting can be challenging for many people, but we want to let people know that they do not need to be alone in the process – there’s a multitude of ways in which you can access help and support, so it’s important that smokers know what is out there. “Martin’s story mirrors our campaign message perfectly – if you can’t quit for yourself, do it for the ones you love. It’s as simple as that.”

Prof. Ian Ashworth, Director of Population Health for NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, added: “Smoking is still the biggest single cause of preventable illness and early death in Cheshire and Merseyside, with 2 in 3 smokers dying too soon unless they quit. “Hearing from people like Martin can give smokers hope that, regardless of how long you have been smoking, it’s never too late to give quitting another go.”

Smoking Ends Here is the public facing brand and website for the programme, which was developed in partnership with people who smoke or have smoked from across the sub-region. Launched on No Smoking Day 2025, the programme will kick start delivering a smoke-free Cheshire and Merseyside by 2030.

Bringing together books, illustrations, live performances and hands-on creativity, this exciting, free-to-attend event promises a whole day of literary adventures for children and families. From meeting favourite storybook characters to discovering how books are written and illustrated, The Big Story Bash is designed to spark imaginations, encourage a love of reading and bring stories to life in exciting and unexpected ways.

The Floral Pavilion will become a hub of creativity, with a packed programme of activities offering something for every young reader, aspiring author and future artist. Children will have the chance to enjoy author readings, hearing stories brought to life by the very people who wrote them, while illustrator demonstrations will offer a fascinating glimpse into how much-loved characters and colourful imaginary worlds are created. For those keen to get involved, interactive workshops will provide opportunities to explore their own creativity, try something new and let their imaginations run wild. There will also be live performances inspired by books, bringing the magic of storytelling off the page and onto the stage.

And the fun doesn’t stop there! Families can look forward to character meet-and-greets, offering younger visitors the chance to come face-to-face with storybook favourites, alongside face painting to add an extra splash of colour to the celebrations. Whether children are already passionate readers or just beginning to discover the joy of books, the festival aims to make storytelling accessible, exciting and, above all, fun.

One of the biggest highlights of The Big Story Bash will be a special appearance by acclaimed children’s author Frank Cottrell-Boyce. The celebrated writer, whose much-loved books include Millions, Cosmic and The Unforgotten Coat, has delighted generations of young readers with his distinctive blend of humour, imagination and heartfelt storytelling. As the UK’s Children’s Laureate for 2024–2026, Frank has been a passionate champion of children’s reading and the importance of making books and stories accessible to young people. His appearance promises to be a real highlight for families, young readers and aspiring writers, offering a special opportunity to celebrate the power of storytelling with one of Britain’s best-known children’s authors.

More than simply a day out, The Big Story Bash is a celebration of the imagination and creativity that books can inspire. By bringing authors, illustrators, performers and families together under one roof, the festival offers children the chance to discover that stories aren’t just something to read – they’re something to experience, explore and create for themselves.

The Floral Pavilion’s Pauline Campbell said: “We’re thoroughly excited to be hosting our inaugural Big Story Bash! It’s going to be a wonderful day of creativity for children — getting them off their devices and engaged with literacy. There’s going to be so much to see and do, with some of the region’s most talented and celebrated authors, illustrators and entertainers. The event is completely free to attend, so it’s a really affordable event for families this November.”

With its mix of entertainment, learning and interactive fun, The Big Story Bash promises to be a fantastic family occasion at one of Wirral’s best-loved cultural venues on New Brighton promenade. And with free entry, it’s an opportunity for families to enjoy a day of literary magic without breaking the bank. The Big Story Bash / Sat 7th November 2026, 10.30am-5pm / The Floral Pavilion, New Brighton Promenade, New Brighton, Wirral

Following a hugely successful debut at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre, Sinatra: The Man Behind The Voice is set to captivate audiences once again when it arrives at Runcorn’s Brindley Theatre on 26th January and Shakespeare North Playhouse on 30th January 2027. Having received glowing reviews following the show charts Sinatra’s life like never before.

The concept has been curated by acclaimed Liverpool-based entertainer David Knopov in collaboration with Paul Pollard, who co-wrote the show 15 years ago. Finally brought to life, the exciting 90-minute theatrical production combines compelling storytelling with sensational live music to explore the remarkable life of one of the greatest entertainers of all time: Frank Sinatra. From his birth and humble beginnings to his extraordinary rise to international superstardom, the show takes audiences on an unforgettable journey through Sinatra’s life, loves, triumphs and struggles, revealing the man behind one of the most recognisable voices in musical history.

Narrating the show is acclaimed actor Michael Maloney, whose screen credits include the much-loved 1990s film Truly, Madly, Deeply and the internationally successful Netflix series The Crown. Adopting the distinctive style of a 1950s American radio broadcaster, Maloney guides the audience through Sinatra’s extraordinary life, weaving together fascinating storytelling with some of the most memorable songs from the Great American Songbook.

At the heart of the production is David Knopov, whose internationally acclaimed Perfectly Frank has delighted audiences around the world for 40 years, including performing for Queen Elizabeth II and King Constantine Of Greece. Accompanied by his outstanding six-piece swing band, Knopov delivers 23 live musical performances throughout the show, capturing the unmistakable phrasing, charisma, swagger and musical brilliance that made Sinatra a legend.

Knopov’s extraordinary ability to recreate the magic of Ol’ Blue Eyes has earned him praise from some of the biggest names in entertainment. Oscar-nominated actor Bill Nighy declared: “David has the timing and swagger of Sinatra… without doubt he’s the best.” Meanwhile, comedian and actress Dawn French summed up his remarkable stage presence perfectly: “When David is up there he is Frank.”

But Sinatra: The Man Behind The Voice is much more than a traditional tribute concert. By combining theatrical narration, carefully selected songs and the exhilarating sound of a live swing band, the production offers audiences an intimate insight into the extraordinary man behind the music. It is a celebration not only of Sinatra’s legendary voice but also of the fascinating personal story that shaped his remarkable career.

David Knopov said: “The production received an enthusiastic reception during its first run at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre in June, attracting glowing reviews and standing ovations from delighted audiences. Now, following that successful Liverpool debut, we’re looking forward to entertaining audiences at two of the North West’s most popular theatrical venues. Following this next run, we have plans to take it on tour around the UK.”

Whether you are a lifelong Sinatra fan or simply love the timeless music of the Great American Songbook, Sinatra: The Man Behind The Voice promises an evening of exceptional entertainment, unforgettable music and captivating storytelling. With Michael Maloney’s evocative narration, David Knopov’s celebrated vocals and the irresistible sound of a live six-piece swing band, this is a unique opportunity to experience the extraordinary story of Frank Sinatra in a completely new way. Sinatra: The Man Behind The Voice / Brindley Theatre, Runcorn, Tues 26th Jan 2027 / Shakespeare North Playhouse, Prescott, Sat 30th Jan 2027

Birkenhead is getting a little bit naughty this autumn as Wirral events company Events 471 teams up with the town’s famous adults-only store, Scandals, for a deliciously daring programme of events that promises to raise eyebrows, tickle funny bones and perhaps even make a few people blush!

Forget your usual night out. This exciting collaboration is bringing art, comedy, burlesque and boundary-pushing theatre together in one of the most unconventional venues on Merseyside. From intimate life drawing sessions featuring burlesque performers to hilariously filthy Edinburgh Fringe theatre, there’s something for anyone who enjoys their entertainment with a generous helping of cheekiness.

Get Your Pencils Out!

Life Drawing Comes to Scandals

First up is something a little different – and a wonderful opportunity to unleash your inner artist while enjoying a uniquely glamorous setting. Starting on Thursday 15th October, Events 471 will host a five-week series of life drawing classes inside Scandals, with each session featuring a burlesque performer posing as the life model. Whether you’re a budding Picasso, a seasoned sketcher or someone who hasn’t picked up a pencil since school, these sessions promise to be welcoming, relaxed and just the right amount of risqué. Guiding participants through the creative process will be talented local artist Geoff Owens, who’ll be on hand with expert tips and encouragement. The classes take place every Thursday from 6pm to 8pm, running until 12th November, with places priced at just £13 if you bring your own drawing materials or £15 with materials supplied.

And there’s an extra incentive to produce your very best masterpiece! Everyone taking part will be invited to exhibit their artwork at a special group exhibition opening on Saturday 5th December, coinciding with Scandals’ annual Sexy Christmas Party.

Yes, you read that correctly – a Sexy Christmas Party! Expect a fabulously festive evening featuring a Sexy Santa, live burlesque performances from some of the life drawing models and the opportunity to admire the artwork created during the course. Who said art had to be boring? With limited spaces available and plenty of interest expected, early booking is strongly recommended.

Filthy, Funny and Fearlessly Unfiltered!

Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Arrives in Birkenhead

If that wasn’t enough to get pulses racing, Events 471 and Scandals are turning up the temperature even further with a brilliantly outrageous theatrical double bill on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November. Fresh from their Edinburgh Fringe runs, two provocative productions will take over the adult store for an evening of wicked humour, sexual politics, dating disasters and gloriously inappropriate entertainment. The Gemini – Filthy, Funny and Fabulous: With 5 star reviews, The Gemini is an unapologetically candid, darkly funny exploration of break-ups, loneliness, sexual freedom and the adventures – and misadventures – of modern dating. Through poetry and performance, a woman’s alter ego takes audiences on a rollercoaster journey through heartbreak and her attempts to navigate polyamory. Andre’s Guide to Women – The Dating Guru Nobody Asked For: Andre’s Guide to Women is award-winning comedy from Pete Mitchelson, which takes a hilarious swipe at the world of self-appointed male dating experts and internet masculinity gurus. Having discovered just how much money certain controversial influencers are making from dispensing questionable advice to young men, Andre decides he wants a piece of the action.

Sexmas Christmas Party

On Saturday 5th December, everything comes to a head with the Sexmas Christmas Party! On the night, all the life drawing art of the burlesque dancers created during the five weeks will be displayed as part of an exhibition. The burlesque dancers will be performing burlesque and cabaret on the night, alongside a pole dancing demonstration, comedy, spoken word and a live DJ! A racy and action packed Christmas night like no other!

A Bold New Chapter for Birkenhead’s Entertainment Scene

The collaboration between Events 471 and Scandals is about more than simply putting on a few cheeky nights out. It’s a celebration of creativity, individuality and the freedom to enjoy something a little different. By transforming an iconic adult retail space into an intimate venue for live performance and artistic expression, the partnership is offering audiences experiences they simply won’t find anywhere else. Whether you’re curious about life drawing, love cutting-edge comedy, enjoy burlesque or simply fancy an evening that’s a little outside your comfort zone, this programme offers plenty of opportunities to try something new.

So, if your usual social calendar is starting to feel a little predictable, perhaps it’s time to spice things up. Grab your pencils, bring your sense of humour, leave your inhibitions at the door and prepare to discover a whole new side of Birkenhead.

Lancaster House Hotel has joined forces with St John’s Hospice to host the ‘Four-Tea’ event on Sunday 22 November 2026 and to celebrate the charity’s 40th anniversary. St John’s Hospice provides free palliative care to patients with life shortening conditions, with its services aiming to cover a population area of 250,000 people in North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of rural North Yorkshire. The hotel run by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues identified the local charity as a cause it wanted to back as part of its wider community support initiatives.

The ‘Four-Tea’ party celebration for the hospice will feature a buffet-style festive afternoon tea with a welcome drink and unlimited teas and coffees. Entertainment will be provided by talented pianist Andrew Hilton as guests arrive, and during the afternoon tea itself, solo artist Olivia Winn will be performing.

Lancaster House Hotel has also launched a volunteering scheme in which several employees are helping the charity with activities such as coffee mornings, maintenance projects and leaflet distribution to raise awareness of hospice services in the local community.

General manager of Lancaster House Hotel Emma Underwood says: “St John’s Hospice has been playing a vital role in our local community since 1986 and we wanted to get involved in their anniversary celebrations and help in whatever way we could. “We appreciate that members of our team and their families may one day need the support and services the charity provides for patients and families, particularly across North Lancashire. This is a chance for us to reciprocate with some fundraising activity, as well as shining a light on the dedicated work and commitment of the hospice team over the last four decades.”

“We run a diverse calendar of events and initiatives designed for local businesses and organisations to participate in corporate fundraising and volunteering and to make positive contributions with a lasting impact. So hopefully this is the start of a fruitful new partnership with the hotel team.
