Website, sign and printing studio network Nettl.com is boosting NHS coffers by producing a range of fun, animal-inspired face masks, with all proceeds going to NHS charities.
Their seamsters – based at their HQ in Trafford Park, Manchester – are normally employed to sew exhibition stands and printed business furniture, like deckchairs and pop-up tables, but have switched focus to the AniMasks initiative after it was launched last month – raising £5,000 for health service charities so far.
And now they are calling on the public to get involved by joining their ‘Seam Team’ to make the masks from home. All required materials are pre-cut and delivered via courier. All you need is your own sewing machine, thread and sewing talent.

Nettl have also established The Seam Team Fund to provide up to 100 sewing machines to seamsters who have been furloughed or made redundant because of Coronavirus.
Their Chief Executive Peter Gunning said: “The heroes of the NHS have been a true inspiration during this crisis.
“Their dedication and selflessness prompted us to come up with the AniMasks initiative.
“Our team of seamsters have done a tremendous job so far, but now we want to boost production and raise as much money for the NHS as we can.
“All you need to join our Seam Team is a sewing machine and some sewing know-how – we’ll provide all the rest.
“It’s a great way to occupy yourself during lock down and contribute to helping our heroes on the NHS front-line.”
The washable masks are intended to catch droplets and slow the rate of spread of Covid-19. They are available in sizes for adults and children, alongside custom designs for corporate clients.
The initiative comes as it is widely expected the government will require the public to sport face-coverings as the current restrictions begin to be lifted. Nettl says they’re seeing an increase in demand for branded face covers from businesses preparing their employees to return to work.
The directors of Nettl, which has over 150 branches nationwide, recently announced they will take pay cuts of up to 30 per cent for the next seven months in order to help the business save cash in the current challenging times.
