Liverpool Football Therapy CIC has organised a charity football match against Liverpool Homeless FC in a bid to raise awareness of the relationship between mental health and homelessness.

The match will take place on Friday 2nd October, 6.30pm kick off, at The Berry Street Garage Stadium, Liverpool.

Football fans across the city, as well as anyone who can relate to issues of mental health and homelessness are invited to come along and show their kind support. Its free to attend and donations will be welcomed on the gates.

Colin Dolan, Founder and Director of Liverpool Football Therapy said: “We encourage adults affected by mental ill health to use football as a recovery tool. We’ve used the concept to host an event with Liverpool Homeless FC to further highlight the link between mental ill health and homelessness.

“We want to welcome as many people as possible to the match so they can see the work we do and the benefits it can bring. We’ll also be handing out informative guides on services across the city that can help you if you are struggling with mental health issues.”

Local company Tectores, the business behind PelliTec – a blister prevention pad used by footballers – is sponsoring the match. Money raised from sponsorships like this will be split between the two charities and further support the ongoing therapy and recovery provided.

Karl Ormond, the co-inventor of PelliTec added: “As a local business we like to support local projects where possible. We’ve done a lot of work with football clubs across Merseyside so it’s a perfect fit for us to support this brilliant match.”

No tickets required in advance, just come along on the night. Expert advice has been provided by the FA and Government to make sure all appropriate Covid-19 social distance measures are in place.
