TGJones Leeds celebrates grand reopening on Saturday morning

Hundreds of customers took part in TGJones Leeds grand reopening celebrations on Saturday morning, bringing a new ‘five-in-one’ hub to the Leeds high street.

The new and improved store sees the return of iconic chain Toys ‘R’ Us in addition to ranges from Hobbycraft and Scribbler, a Print.Me machine for printing photos, and a new Post Office.

Alex Sobel, MP for Leeds Central and Headingley, and Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Barry Anderson joined local customers to celebrate the opening, alongside a guest visit from legendary character Geoffrey the Giraffe who posed for photos and handed out toy plushies to attendees throughout the morning.

Over 200 gift cards, prizes and goody bags were handed out to eager customers, who also enjoyed several interactive in-store spaces including a free caricaturist, live DJ, and 20% off in-store product*.

Best known for being a stationery and books retailer, TGJones has expanded its Leeds range by providing retail space to the UK’s largest hobbies and crafts retailer, Hobbycraft, renowned toy chain Toys ‘R’ Us, and popular greeting card and gift retailer Scribbler, launching just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

The Hobbycraft space boasts a wide range of crafting supplies including clay making tools, papercraft, knitting accessories and craft project kits, whilst Toys ‘R’ Us features children’s toys and accessories from well-known brands including LEGO, Pokémon, Hot Wheels and more.

In addition to the new ranges, the store has also added in a designated Post Office. It becomes the main postal hub in Leeds, providing a prime location for those who want to both purchase and post Christmas presents. There are multiple Post Office counters offering the full range of Post Office services.

Customers are also able to take and print photos using the Print.Me kiosk situated in the branch.

The refit has created a fresh look and feel to improve customer experience. These enhancements include an optimised product layout making it easier for customers to browse the retailer’s expanded collection, and the installation of a background music system for visitors to enjoy whilst browsing.

TGJones Leeds is one of several store refits that has been carried out by the retailer, which has over 450 stores across the UK.

William Wren, local Area Manager for TGJones, comments: “TGJones might be one of the newest names on Leeds’ high street, but it’s still the same trusted and reliable store that customers will remember. The investment in a new layout, new Post Office, and the addition of ranges from Hobbycraft, Toys ‘R’ Us and Scribbler will offer more choice and convenience for customers and reflects our ambition to become a hub on the high street.”

Callum Bonfield, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Post Office, comments: “We are delighted to be continuing our ever-growing partnership with TGJones through the addition of a new Post Office in Leeds. By working together, we are providing customers with our key products and services including the ability to deposit and withdraw cash over the counter and a choice of multiple parcel delivery partners to suit their needs whilst at the same time being able to shop for stationery, books, gifts and many other items.”

Local residents can visit the new and improved TGJones store at 3 – 7 Lands Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 6AW.
