Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali group from Pakistan bring their stunning interpretation of classic Sufi texts to Sage Gateshead in March 2019, as part of a national tour.
Nephews of legendary Qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rizwan and Muazzam are the contemporary torchbearers of the Qawwali tradition, a centuries-old form of Sufi devotional music from the Indian subcontinent.
The eight-venue tour, which sees the band visiting venues including Sage Gateshead, Leeds Town Hall and the London Barbican Centre, highlights a growing demand for Sufi and other forms of diverse music being programmed into mainstream concert venues.
Rizwan-Muazzam are excited to return to the UK, with new venues and cities added to this tour, which is presented by Asian Arts Agency.
