A Newcastle art gallery is shooting for the stars this spring with a new exhibition of artwork by comedian, actor, presenter and artist Jim Moir, otherwise known as Vic Reeves.

Part of nationwide exhibitions taking place in London and Manchester, Jim’s first-ever art exhibition in Newcastle, titled A Mountain of Turkish Delight, will be on show at The Biscuit Factory – the UK’s largest independent commercial art, craft and design gallery – in May.

The new collection will feature more than 100 original drawings and paintings of familiar northern faces and landmarks amongst his other quirky subject matter, rendered in his truly unique and characterful style. All work is signed by the artist and available to buy, with prices ranging from £250 to £5000.

Better known by his stage name Vic Reeves, Jim forged a successful career as a comedian in the 1990s, working with Bob Mortimer on popular shows such as Big Reeves Big Night Out and Shooting Stars. More recently, he appeared in Coronation Street and was also a contestant on Celebrity Masterchef.

Alongside these television appearances, Jim – who grew up in Darlington – is also an accomplished artist, whose practice consists of painting, drawing, etching, photography and sculpture.

His new exhibition in Newcastle’s Ouseburn launches with a special invite-only preview event on Thursday 9 May and will run until Sunday 19 May 2019.

To be in with a chance of winning tickets to the private launch of the exhibition on 9 May, where Jim will be in attendance, email art@thebiscuitfactory.com with your contact details to enter by the end of April.
