Ghetto Golf Set To Swing Into Newcastle This Summer

Award-winning leisure operator Ghetto Golf will be opening its latest site at Newcastle’s Hoults Yard this summer as part of a nationwide company expansion.

The brand, which already offers its popular over-18s crazy golf with a difference in Liverpool and Birmingham, will be arriving at Hoults Yard situated in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle upon Tyne in May, creating a total of 45 jobs.

Headed by founders Kip Piper and Danny Bolger, the Ghetto Golf concept was created in 2016 and has welcomed over 850,000 visitors in that time. They plan to open a total of seven sites across the UK in the next two years.

Danny said: “When we first established Ghetto Golf three years ago in Liverpool’s then-derelict Baltic Triangle area, we knew we were onto something special. Our aims were to create an entertainment and nightlife concept that was previously unseen and we’ve continued to go from strength-to-strength with our brand. From couples joining us for a quirky first date to friendship groups celebrating hen and stag dos and even corporate nights out, Ghetto Golf continues to delight our guests who visit us from all over the world.”

Kip added: “Aside from our commitment to offering our guests the upmost in fun when it comes to a night out, we’re particularly passionate about regeneration and have chosen to set up shop in locations where we know we can increase footfall and overall revenue. What’s more, each of our businesses are entirely self-funded, with materials sourced responsibly and ethically from the likes scrap heaps. Each of our spaces is also home to artwork created by a range of local graffiti artists, which really ties in with our ethos here at Ghetto Golf. We know that many of the artists helping us out use their work to express themselves socially and politically and we hope that as a result of their involvement in creating our space, Ghetto Golf Newcastle becomes a creative hub that really communicates the thoughts and feelings of our demographic.”

As part of their ever-growing business portfolio, Piper and Bolger have also launched nightlife venues including Birdies Bar & BBQ and On Air and pop-up ventures including a Home Alone Christmas Bar and travelling-carnival concept Spectaculum.

Owner of Hoults Yard Charlie Hoult said: “It’s certainly exciting for our Business Village to welcome a venture such as Ghetto Golf, which will bring with it something completely different from what we’ve seen before and will complement the wide variety of other businesses that reside within our spaces.”
